EMPORIA (KSNT) – The City of Emporia announced that a contractor will close part of an intersection that’s part of the city’s east-to-west interstate for a water improvement project.
Starting on Nov. 4, the center turn lane and inside through lanes of Sixth Avenue and US-50 Highway at West Street will be closed for 1–2 weeks. According to the city, the West Street traffic will be restricted to right turns only and water service may be temporarily impacted in the area.
The project started on Oct. 27 and is expected to be completed by Fall 2026. The project will see over 24,000 feet of 4-inch through 20-inch water mains, along with 223 new service lines, installed.
