TOPEKA (KSNT) – The City of Topeka announced it will be increasing the available funds for the Water Assistance Program from $300 to $400 for approved residents.
The City of Topeka said on Nov. 10 this move is aligned with the city’s Oh Snap! fundraiser, which is an initiative focused on supporting local families experiencing financial hardship due to the ongoing government shutdown. The increased financial assistance for approved residents is effective immediately.
“The City of Topeka is committed to helping our neighbors during challenging times,” said City Manager Robert Perez in a press release. “By expanding our Water Assistance Program, we’re ensuring that families who may be struggling financially have one less worry on their list.”

Approved residents for the Water Assistance Program will automatically receive an additional $100 credit on their next billing statement. The Community Resources Council administers applications for the program. To learn more, check out the Utility Payment Assistance page.
“These programs reflect the spirit of Topeka, neighbors helping neighbors,” said Utility Director Sylvia Davis. “Whether it’s through donations or program participation, every effort helps strengthen our community.”
If you do not require utility assistance but are still interested in helping, community members can donate to the WaterShare Program. Every dollar collected goes towards helping others pay their city utility bills.
