KANSAS (KSNT) – The night before Thanksgiving, also known as “Blackout Wednesday,” is officially here, kicking off the holiday with what is widely recognized as the biggest night for drinking and bar traffic all year.
Nov. 26 is the last day to stock up on alcohol. Due to state laws, all liqueur stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day.

“So to be ready, you got to stock up today because you won’t be able to get it tomorrow.” said Bryan McDonald, owner of Fleming Place Wine and Spirits. “No one wants to go to that Thanksgiving dinner without that bottle of wine they promised.”
Bars and restaurants, such as The Pennant in downtown Topeka, suggest you get to the restaurant earlier than later due to the business they are expecting.

“It brings the craziness out of people, and I think it’s important that we all just treat each other like we are neighbors, and that we all have to live together,” said Dylan Hall, bar manager. “Be nice to your server, be nice to your bartender. Know that we are just as busy back here.”
Remember to drink responsibly and have a designated driver, or use a service like Uber or Lyft, to take you home safe.
