TOPEKA (KSNT) – A house fire in east Topeka killed four dogs while the owners were away.
The Topeka Fire Department responded to a house fire around 2:40 p.m. Friday at 501 SE Golden. Although the owners were out of the house and there were no human injuries, four dogs inside the home were killed in the fire.

Firefighters are unsure what caused the fire and the investigation remains active.
