TOPEKA (KSNT) – Road crews are set to close part of Southwest 25th Street in Topeka as part of a larger, ongoing road work project on Southwest Fairlawn Road.
Joseph Harrington with the City of Topeka said on Jan. 20 that local drivers should prepare for additional work on the Fairlawn Construction Project. He said that Southwest 25th Street will be shut down where it meets Southwest Fairlawn road starting on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
Harrington said the closure is expected to last until the fall of 2026. The closure will end once road and utility improvements in this area are completed.

City workers started the project August 2025 for a section of Southwest Fairlawn Road extending from Southwest 28th Street to Southwest 22nd Place. Local residents have expressed their frustrations with 27 News about this road work project.
