TOPEKA (KSNT) – Energy company Evergy is set to host an event in Topeka to help people get financial help with their home energy costs.
Matt Lucht with Evergy said people are invited to attend an upcoming event from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library’s Marvin Auditorium. Evergy will be helping attendees apply to the Low Income Energy Assistance Program.
LIEAP is a federal program that helps households across the nation with a one-time per year benefit that helps homeowners pay off energy costs. People who received benefits through LIEAP in 2025 got an average of $600 in financial help through this program, according to Evergy.
The application period for this year’s LIEAP opened on Jan. 20. The application period will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.
