TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Police Department is warning local businesses of scam calls circulating in the community that imitate law enforcement and make demands of financial or sensitive information.
The TPD announced the warning on social media on Feb. 11 after reportedly receiving multiple complaints of the scam calls. The department said it does not cold call businesses demanding financial, personal or business information.
Scam calls impersonating law enforcement are not rare as the Riley County Police Department warned residents of a similar call scam pretending to be patrol officers last year.
