KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There is a baby boom for giraffes at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium!
Makali, a Masai giraffe at the KCZoo, gave birth to a 6-foot-tall baby girl giraffe, named Nora, on Feb. 7. This marks the third baby giraffe born at the zoo in the last four months.

The zoo said she is already bonding with brother Beni and sister Aspen. They are half-siblings, with the same dad, 6-year-old Aidan.
While you can’t visit the zoo and see the new giraffes just yet, the zoo says their new habitat should be open in the early summer months.
The Zoo’s giraffe herd also includes adult females Chandy, Alika and Willow.
Masai giraffes are listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium partners with Save Giraffes Now on coexistence projects in Kenya, where the concern is growing.
