TOPEKA (KSNT) – Six members of a local chapter of scouts are celebrating their recent achievement of reaching the top rank of Eagle Scout.
Mikell Burr with Scouting America Troop 46 based out of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka said in a press release that six members of the troop have all achieved the coveted rank of Eagle Scout in 2025. The rank of Eagle Scout marks the highest honor a member can achieve.
Burr said that Luke Franklin, Zach Lindsay, Finn Lappin, William Luke, Sam Hammes and Evan White are the members who recently reached the prestigious rank. The group’s achievements, leadership and service will be honored in an upcoming event.

“Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is not a single accomplishment but the culmination of
years of perseverance, character development and servant leadership,” said Troop 46
Scoutmaster Eric White. “These young men have shown dedication to their faith, their
community and one another. We are proud of who they are and excited to see how they will
continue to lead and serve.”
Where are plans at for the new Topeka pedestrian-only Kansas River bridge?
Scouts that reach the Eagle Scout rank must demonstrate leadership, complete extensive community service projects and earn multiple merit badges. Each merit badge marks the individual scout’s personal achievements and skills earned within Scouting America.
Eagle Scouts must also complete major service projects to attain the rank. Each project requires months of preparation, coordination with volunteers, fundraising efforts and hands-on leadership.
- Lappin – constructed a percussion storage closet in the Topeka West band room.
- Franklin – coordinated Topeka Historic Sites passport stamping stations.
- Hammes – constructed benches for the Hayden Catholic High School tennis court.
- Luke – built a raised sandbox cover for Christ the King Early Education Center.
- Lindsay – assembled and installed benches for the playground area at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School.
- White – constructed a sensory cart for the Kansas School of the Blind.
Burr said the scouts will be recognized during an Eagle Court of Honor celebration on March 1 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 3601 SW 17th St. in Topeka. You can learn more about
