JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) – Kansas soldiers and their families are displaced after a fire damaged an apartment complex in Junction City on Thursday.
The Junction City Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1810 Caroline Avenue in Junction City at The Bluffs apartment complex on Feb. 19. Firefighters arriving at the scene spotted a three-story apartment building on fire.
The JCFD found the fire had moved into a common attic space of the apartment building. Fire crews searched the structure for victims and opened ceilings to put out the flames, eventually dousing the fire. No one was hurt as a result of the fire.

Kirk Hutchinson with Fort Riley told 27 News the post is making resources available to soldiers and their families following the fire. He said the Emergency Family Assistance Center is now activated to provide them with immediate support.
“The command team was grateful no one was injured and remains committed to care of our Soldiers and their Families,” Hutchinson said. “In the coming days, dedicated teams will continue to provide resources including help with insurance claims, access to a lending closet for household goods, and processing Army Emergency Relief (AER) loans.”
Hutchinson said Fort Riley is providing information on temporary housing and have teams on-site to help address any immediate needs of those who were impacted by the fire. Fort Riley soldiers and their families can contact Army Community Service at 855-238-3348 for help.
