TOPEKA (KSNT) – Organizers are gearing up for a big car show in Topeka set for this April that is helping to get local K-9s the protection they need.
Cindy Leggit, organizer of the K-9 Edition Car Show, is putting the pieces together for this year’s second annual event. Leggit hopes to build upon the success of last year’s event in 2026 and help to raise money for the benefit of K-9 officers in the local area.
“It’s just gonna be a great time,” Leggit said.

The upcoming car show will feature grab bags for the first 100 people to register vehicles in the event and a public raffle for various prizes like a $250 Diamonds by Design gift card and tickets to an upcoming “Hairball” concert at the Stormont Vail Events Center. Vendors will also be in attendance along with a live DJ and the food truck Carnival Cravings.
Leggit said the entire purpose of the car show is to raise cash to buy things like bulletproof vests, veterinary services and training gear for K-9 officers in the Topeka area. She enjoys supporting both local K-9s and the officers who work with them every day.
“I do this out of my own time because I love puppy people,” Leggit said.
Leggit said that, during the inaugural 2025 event, just over 90 vehicles were entered into the show. She hopes to see a larger turnout this year and encourages anyone who has a cool vehicle to apply.
Car registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and is $15 on the day of the event. Leggit said the show is open to all kinds of vehicles, including motorcycles and Jeeps.
“It’s a really great show,” Leggit said. “Everyone really enjoyed it last year. It was resounding… a resounding success last year.”
Members of the public who aren’t bringing a vehicle for entry into the show can still attend the event for free. The car show will be from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 at The Dugout located at 1545 SW Fairlawn Rd. in Topeka. You can learn more about the event by heading to Facebook.
