TOPEKA (KSNT) – State troopers report a Kansas City man is hospitalized after he suffered critical injuries in a late-night Osage County crash on Tuesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 10:15 p.m. on March 3 on I-35 a short distance from where it meets South Shawnee Heights Road. The drivers of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2011 Volvo semi truck were both heading north on I-35 in the right lane at the time of the crash.
The KHP said the driver of the Chevrolet hit the rear of the semi truck. The Chevrolet then left the road on the right side and came to a stop in the ditch.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 46-year-old Kansas City man, had serious injuries following the crash. First responders took him to a Kansas City-area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The KHP reports the driver of the semi truck, a 42-year-old man from Illinois, had no injuries. The Kansas City man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
