MANHATTAN (KSNT) – A Topeka non-profit group has announced a new partnership to bring affordable housing to Manhattan and the northern Flint Hills.
Strengthening & Equipping Neighborhoods Together, (SENT) Inc. issued a press release on March 6 stating that it is partnering up with Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills to expand affordable housing opportunities in the local region. This includes Manhattan and the northern Flint Hills areas.
“At SENT, we believe the work of expanding affordable housing is stronger when organizations come together with shared purpose and a willingness to learn from one another,” said Johnathan Sublet, executive director of SENT, Inc. “Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills has a strong history of buyer education, advocacy, innovation, and student involvement that has helped shape housing opportunities in Kansas. We’re honored to partner in ways that can help expand housing in Manhattan and the Northern Flint Hills while contributing to the good of communities statewide.”

The new partnership builds on the shared participation of Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills and SENT in the K-State Transdisciplinary Housing Team, the A Better Housing Toolkit project and the Heartland Homes Initiative. These consist of three areas where Habitat for Humanity and SENT are already working together to strengthen housing quality, quantity and affordability. Both organizations will work together to accomplish the following under this new partnership:
- Share practical knowledge and lessons learned from community-based housing development in different Sunflower State communities
- Leverage relationships across public, community and philanthropic partners to expand opportunity
- Strengthen housing strategies that support long-term affordability and neighborhood stability
- Contribute local expertise and feedback that can build broader housing efforts across the state
“This partnership is one more example of what becomes possible when organizations choose to
build together instead of working in isolation,” Sublet said. “By sharing knowledge, resources,
and relationships, we can strengthen what’s possible for Kansas families—community by
community.”
Both organizations contribute in different ways under this new partnership, according to the press release. Habitat for Humanity has a history of service and innovation in Kansas while SENT brings experience in community development and strategies that connect housing with the broader conditions families need to thrive.
SENT and Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills will stay focused on community-centered collaboration, shared learning and sustainable strategies that expand affordable housing opportunities as this partnership continues.
