TOPEKA (KSNT) – Personnel with the Kansas Air National Guard from a base in the Topeka area are assisting with military operations against Iran this month.
Jan Welch with the Kansas Adjutant General’s Office told 27 News that airmen with the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Kansas Air National Guard, were deployed to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. They are currently supporting “Operation Epic Fury” in the Middle East.
Welch said that, as part of the total force, the Kansas National Guard continue to deploy and support operations around the world. She did not confirm how many personnel are included in this deployment.

The 190th Air Refueling Wing is one of two Air National Guard units stationed in Kansas. The unit operates out of Forbes Field Air National Guard Base in Topeka.
The 190th Air Refueling Wing has around 900 personnel, according to its website. It primarily flies the large-scale KC-135 air refueling aircraft to support world-wide aerial refueling operations.
