TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka ER and Hospital announced on Monday that it is working with a healthcare program for veterans and active-duty service members.
Director of Marketing Jami Nichols for Topeka ER and Hospital announced on March 16 in a press release the hospital is now a participating provider with TRICARE West, a healthcare program for military service members. It is managed under the U.S. Defense Health Agency and U.S. Department of Defense.
Eligible beneficiaries under TRICARE West can now receive immediate medical care at the hospital, including comprehensive emergency, inpatient and outpatient services, according to the hospital.
“This expansion means that we can now provide 24/7 concierge emergency, inpatient, and outpatient care for military families with minimal wait time,” said Jared Schreiner, the chief medical officer at Topeka ER & Hospital in a press release. “We are committed to supporting veterans, active-duty service members, and their families here in Kansas by participating with TRICARE West.”
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Kansas has 200,821 veterans living in the state from numbers in the last census in 2020, and Fort Riley in the Flint Hills currently has 15,400 active-duty members. Topeka also houses the only VA inpatient care medical center.
Topeka ER and Hospital is located at 6135 Southwest 17th Street in west Topeka.
