TOPEKA (KSNT)- In the capital city, kids got hands-on experience with construction equipment at the Discovery Center.
“The Big Dig” event featured Fit Excavating equipment and staff. Kids were able to climb, explore, and, of course, honk the horns of multiple heavy-duty vehicles.
This is the Discovery Center’s first time doing this event, but it won’t be the last.
“They’re learning a little bit about how these big machines work, which is a great way for kids to get excited about engineering,” said director of marketing Laura Burton.

“To bring kids out and enjoy themselves, get them engaged with the construction industry and just have a good time,” said the president and owner of Fit Excavating, Kory James.
The Discovery Center will host its first-ever Discovery After Dark event on April 10. This event is for adults to enjoy cocktails and play inside the Discovery Center.
