LYON COUNTY (KSNT) – First responders worked at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in Lyon County on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post at 3:42 p.m. on April 1 that emergency responders were working on a multi-vehicle crash that prompted the closure of Highway 56 from Road M to Road P. According to KVOE.com, it was reported that the crash involved a USD 251 North Lyon County school bus and 11 total vehicles. The report says at least five people were hospitalized including one taken to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka for treatment.

Officials told 27 News on the scene that they do not know how the crash had happened and KVOE reported that the Kansas Highway Patrol Critical Highway Accident Response Team is investigating the cause of the crash. Road R and Road L are now closed off, according to officials.
