RILEY COUNTY (KSNT) – State troopers report a Missouri man is critically injured following an early morning crash in Riley County Friday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 1:15 a.m. on April 3 on U.S. Highway 24 about four miles east of Riley. A driver in a 2006 Chevrolet 2500 truck was traveling south on the highway at the time of the crash.
The driver left the highway on the west side, losing control of his vehicle and crossing back over onto U.S. 24, according to the KHP. The driver’s truck left the road a second time and entered a ditch, overturning and coming to a stop on the driver’s side while facing south.
The KHP said the driver, a 21-year-old man from Lake Winnebago, Missouri, had serious injuries following the crash. Medical personnel transported him to a hospital in Manhattan for treatment. The KHP couldn’t confirm if he was wearing a seat belt or not at the time of the crash.
