OSAGE COUNTY (KSNT) – Sheriff’s deputies report area residents pitched in to help after a local post office caught on fire Monday night after it was reportedly hit by lightning.
Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells announced in a press release that deputies received a 911 call shortly before 7 p.m. on April 13 of a possible fire at the Lyndon Post Office located at 712 Topeka Ave. A deputy arriving at the scene found a fire within the building.
Local residents stepped in with fire extinguishers to help put out the flames while firefighters responded to the call. Wells said their efforts contained the fire to the front ceiling area of the building, with the fire being put out around 10 minutes later.
