TOPEKA (KSNT) — Seaman High School students celebrated prom on Saturday, April 18, but a small group of students arrived in a way few could top, inside one of the iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles.
The Wienermobile was in Topeka on Saturday, April 17, for a NASCAR pre‑race celebration. Seaman junior Breckan Andrews and his friends spotted the hot dog on wheels while they were at Sonic and decided to stop for photos. That interaction quickly turned into something more.
“One of my buddies was like, ‘Can we rent this thing?’ and I was like, ‘Well, what if we just ask about prom? What if they take us? It’s tomorrow,” Andrews said. “Like that’d be insane.”
Maggie Dawson, a Wienermobile driver and Oscar Mayer brand spokesperson, known as a “Hot Dogger”, said the idea immediately clicked.
“It was like a little light bulb,” Dawson said. “We were like, ‘Well, what time is prom?’ And from there, we checked our schedule, and we were able to make it happen.”
Andrews said the Oscar Mayer crew made the prom ride happen for free.

Dawson said helping create the experience was an easy decision.
“Hearing about prom, I mean, I have such special memories, like with my high school experience with my prom and knowing that we could add the weenie magic of the big dog to it,” Dawson said. “We figured it had to be done.”
Dawson said she had been looking forward to the moment all day, knowing she would be part of a once‑in‑a‑lifetime memory for the students.
“It’s such a special thing for me, being the steward that gets to bring them there,” Dawson said. “So I can’t even imagine what kind of happiness it’s going to bring.”
Andrews said arriving in the Wienermobile was unlike any traditional prom ride, adding that he and his friends are already thinking about what could top it next year.
