TOPEKA (KSNT) – Helping Hands Humane Society (HHHS) has brought in 101 cats and kittens over the last week.
In the past 10 days, Helping Hands has taken in 242 animals. Seventy of those are cats and kittens.
With the warm weather happening earlier this year, this is the time when household pets start to breed. HHHS provides a low-cost community clinic to help reduce the amount of litters appearing in the community.
“Our main goal is to basically reduce pet overpopulation and help animals and people in the community,” said HHHS communications coordinator Emi Griess. “So, getting word about the community clinic out there is the most important thing.”
The HHHS reports that its dog kennels are completely full, so all the dogs and puppies are available at no cost. You can learn more about HHHS by visiting its location in Topeka at 5720 SW 21st St. or by heading to its website.
