GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) – Deputies report a man is injured after his dog reportedly distracted him while he was driving in Geary County Sunday, causing his vehicle to crash.
The Geary County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash happened just before 1:15 p.m. on May 3 at Old Highway 40 and South Milford Lake Road. A man in a 2008 Nissan Titan was traveling south on South Milford Lake Road at the time of the crash.
Deputies said the driver, distracted by a dog inside his vehicle, approached the intersection of South Milford Lake Road and Old Highway 40 too fast to safely navigate a turn. He turned west onto Old Highway 40 and lost control of his vehicle, which rolled into the north ditch and stopped on its roof.
The sheriff’s office said medical personnel transported the driver, a Chapman man, to a hospital in Topeka for treatment of his injuries.
