TOPEKA (KSNT) – Eight players and nine awards for the Ichabods.
Washburn baseball had a good showing on the All-MIAA Teams, starting with Ian Luce being named to the second-team.
Luce led the team, hitting .411 on the year with 88 hits, which ranks fifth in the country.
He was also named to the MIAA Gold Glove team. Luce was 86-for-86 on putout attempts.
Jack Borgmann was named a third-team selection as a utility player. He has seven home runs on the season and 35 RBI.
Levi Risenhoover, Brandt Beeby, Kai Bennett, Trenton Barry, Maclane Finley and Jackson Mervosh were all named honorable mentions.
Risenhoover batted .299 with a team-high 11 home runs while adding 59 RBI. Beeby was .329 at the plate with four home runs.
Bennett earned the selection at pitcher. He had a team-high 59 strikeouts. Finley was also named as an honorable mention as a pitcher. The Topeka native has 47 Ks.
Barry drove in 30 runs to go along with two home runs. He ranks 21st in the nation in triples with five triples.
Mervosh earned All-Conference honors for the second straight season. He hit .264 on the year with one home run.
The Ichabods (21-29, 17-19 MIAA) will be the No. 8 seed in the play in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament on Wednesday against No. 9 Central Oklahoma (26-24, 17-19 MIAA) at 4 p.m.
With a win, Washburn would either play No. 1 Pittsburg State or No. 2 Rogers State, depending on other results.
