WAMEGO (KSNT) – Coming off another deep postseason run, the Wamego Red Raiders enter the 2026 season as one of the teams to watch in Class 4A.
Wamego finished last season with a 9-3 record, continuing a strong stretch for a program that has become a consistent contender in recent years. As the Red Raiders prepare for another season, this year’s senior class believes one thing will separate Wamego from its opponents: physicality.
“I love the physicality of this team,” senior linebacker Mason Isch told 27 Sports. “That’s always been a staple here at Wamego. It’s the best part of the game, and that’s what we thrive on here. I think that’s what’s going to win us a lot of games this year.”
The team wants opponents to know Wamego as a team that plays fast, hits hard and isn’t afraid to turn games into a battle.

“We bring the energy, we hit hard, and we’re entertaining,” said senior quarterback Logan Fulton. “If you want to watch a good football team, we’re the team do it because of how we play the game, how hard we hit, and the way we fly around.”
That mentality will be especially important for a senior class preparing for its final run together. After experiencing the expectations that come with playing for Wamego, the group believes it’s ready to take another step in 2026.
“The leadership has been great all summer in the offseason,” said head coach Weston Moody. “These guys have been grinding in the film room and on the field. Us coaches, when we see player-led teams, we get excited. We know down the stretch we’ll need that leadership on the field so we’re pretty excited about this group.”
The Red Raiders open the season Friday, Sept. 4 at home against Clay Center.
