MANHATTAN (KSNT) — Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in the Little Apple received a library makeover thanks to the ‘Extra Yard for Teachers’ initiative.
The Big 12 Conference and College Football Playoff partnered with Woodrow Wilson Elementary to provide a renovated library space.
Each year, the conference partners with the CFP Foundation with the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative to provide renovated classroom spaces.
The remodel included new furniture, learning rugs, a whiteboard and a TV.
“Woodrow Wilson has been a partner of ours for a longtime, particularly student-athletes and the reading program,” K-State Athletic Director Gene Taylor told 27 Sports. “It’s just fitting that we were able to work with them, and it’s been great today.”
Kansas State student-athletes and cheerleaders joined the celebration.
“When all the kids came in the excitement was insane,” K-State track and field’s Devin Loudermilk said. “It almost brough some tears to my eyes seeing all these kids super excited about their library and super excited about their school.”
“My favorite part about K-State is the community,” K-State women’s basketball’s Taryn Sides added. “So being able to give back to various different organizations and schools, especially here, has been so fun and so rewarding.”
