TOPEKA (KSNT) – Two Topeka businesses can now be found inside West Ridge Mall after staff for both stores held ribbon-cutting celebrations Thursday morning.
Mall officials and store workers of The Mix and Linen Tree & Co. celebrated the grand openings of both businesses at the shopping center on Sept. 10. Staff at the stores offered the first customers access to discounts, special deals and drawings to mark the occasion.

Kansas flags ordered to fly at half-staff Friday
Casey Richardson, general manager and director of operations at West Ridge Mall, announced the imminent arrival of the stores at the shopping center earlier this month. Both stores arrive at the mall as it continues to undergo major renovation work.
The Linen Tree & Co. is a home décor and clothing store known for offering gifts and seasonal items to customers. The owner said that, after almost 50 years at the Brookwood Shopping Center, it was time to expand.
“We just decided it would be great to kind of get in the mood, get in on the momentum here at the mall and bring it out here for the holidays,” said Kelly Schuster, owner of Linen Tree & Co. “So, as you can see, we’re set up for fall and soon we’ll be transitioning into Christmas and we’re just super excited to be out here at the mall.”
The Mix, which first opened in 2023, is a women’s clothing boutique that offers customers their choice of denim and jewelry. The owner said the decision to relocate from downtown Topeka to the west side was driven by the hope of increased exposure at the mall.
“Yeah, we’re always buying a season ahead, so we purchased this months ago, so we’re just excited to have fall here,” said Jennifer Foster, owner of The Mix. “Our other store downtown, we were more summer clothes, so we’re just excited that although the weather’s not really cooperating currently, we’re just excited that fall is coming.”
Staff with The Mix closed their location in downtown Topeka in preparation for the transition to West Ridge Mall. Linen Tree & Co. can still be found at the Brookwood Shopping Center.
