TOPEKA (KSNT) – Firefighters in Topeka doused a garage fire Sunday that caused the deaths of two dogs.
Fire officials responded to a garage fire in the late afternoon hours of Sept. 12 in the 2100 block of Southwest College Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage. Firefighters were able to put out the fire, but two dogs died as a result of the blaze. Fire personnel said nobody else was home at the time of the fire.
“Crews made an aggressive interior attack and were able to get the fire knocked down,” said Topeka Fire Department Battalion Chief Kaleb Mize.
The Topeka Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
