TOPEKA (KSNT) – Personnel with the Topeka Fire Department (TFD) held their annual Fill the Boot fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Firefighters from firehouses one through 12 collected donations at intersections all over Topeka for the MDA during the weekend of Sept. 11-13. This program has raised over $700 million since got started. Their goal is to help individuals and families impacted by neuromuscular diseases.
“You know, everybody has their own story,” said TFD Captain Matt Frehe. “But, you know, it’s a tradition thing. You know, we’ve always done it. We’ve always supported. And like I said, the community always shows up. So, as long as they keep showing up, we’re going to be out here standing here with the boot in our hand.”
