JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) – Local officials will gather to celebrate the start of construction for a new outpatient clinic for veterans in Junction City early next month.
Officials with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) shared in a press release that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, at 2512 Rucker Road in Junction City. The ceremony will mark the beginning of construction for the upcoming Lieutenant General Richard J. Seitz Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.
Junction City officials shared earlier this year that a new 40,000 square-foot VA outpatient clinic would be coming to the area. The new clinic is anticipated to provide additional services to local veterans and expand their access to VA healthcare in the Flint Hills region.

The Lieutenant General Richard J. Seitz Community-Based Outpatient Clinic is expected to be the biggest outpatient clinic in the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. VA officials said it will expand existing primary care and mental health spaces and offer other services including specialty care and ancillary services in a brand-new building.
The clinic is named after Lt. Gen. Richard J. Seitz who served in the Army for 37 years and later retired in Junction City. Congress designated the Junction City clinic in his honor in 2014.
