TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka school district is celebrating 40 years of fundraising efforts to support students and staff.
Officials with the Topeka Public School (TPS) Foundation said the organization is able to provide scholarships, grants and emergency resources to all the schools throughout the USD 501 school district thanks to its fundraising efforts and community partners. One way the TPS fundraising board thanks its partners is through an annual breakfast recognizing the efforts of the community.
“Well, it’s important for our community partners to know how their funds are invested in Topeka Public Schools students and staff,” said Fred Willer, executive director of the Topeka Public Schools Foundation. “What programs that we’ve created and developed. What resources that we provide to the schools and the importance of the relationship between our partners and the foundation.”

The celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 22 featured presentations of many awards to community members and partners. These included the 2026 Patron Award, awarded to R.E. “Tuck” Duncan, father of Topeka Mayor Spencer Duncan, honoring his contributions and commitment to the community and TPS.
