GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) – The top education official for USD 475 in Geary County has announced his plans to step down.
Matt Hoover, a spokesman for USD 475, shared in a press release that Superintendent Reginald Eggleston will be stepping down from his position in the district soon. Members of the Geary County Schools USD 475 Board of Education approved his resignation during a meeting on Sept. 24.
“I am truly honored and humbled to have been the Superintendent of Schools in USD 475,” Eggleston said. “As I prepare to step away from my current role, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity I have had to serve the students, staff and families of USD 475. I am especially thankful to God, my wife, my staff and everyone across this district and Fort Riley who has worked alongside me to make a positive difference in the lives of our students. This chapter has been incredibly meaningful, and I will always be proud of the work we have accomplished together. It has been a privilege to serve this district and to represent public education in our community and across the state of Kansas.”
Eggleston has served as superintendent for USD 475 since 2019. Over the course of his time serving the district, he has overseen multiple initiatives that addressed the academic, emotional and social needs of local students. He also helped ensure community partnerships and strong financial planning for the benefit of the district’s over 7,000 students and 1,300 staff members.

The Kansas School Superintendents Association named Eggleston the Kansas Superintendent of the Year during the 2025-2026 school year. This marked Eggleston as only the third USD 475 superintendent in the history of the district to receive the honor.
Eggleston will continue to serve as superintendent of the district through to June 30, 2027. The USD 475 Board of Education is working on a plan to identify his successor.
