TOPEKA (KSNT) – City staff are opening a virtual open house to provide members of the Topeka community with a chance to help give their input on the future of transportation work in the Capital City.
City of Topeka officials announced in a press release that staff with the Metropolitan Topeka Planning Organization will be holding the virtual open house in support of the transportation plan update. Local residents who were not able to go to a previous open house in September are invited to take part in this new meeting opportunity.
People who take part are asked to participate in multiple activities in seven different topic areas: pedestrian and bicycle mobility, vehicular mobility, public transit, conceptual sites, transportation plan framework, goals and previous plans and visioning.
City officials said a draft for the transportation plan update is set to be developed in the spring of 2027. Following a revision period based on feedback from the community and other stakeholders, final recommendations will be considered, and the new plan will then be adopted.
City staff said the virtual open house will end on Oct. 31 this year. You can access the open house online by clicking here. People can also participate in an online community survey to inform city planners of the local area’s priorities.
