TOPEKA (KSNT) – A local food truck will not be open next year after its owner said he needed to step away from operating it due to family reasons.
Branden Watson, owner of the Burger Bus, took to social media on Oct. 20 to share an update about the food truck with fans. Watson thanked people in the community for supporting his food truck over the last six years, but said he has decided to pause the Burger Bus for 2027.
Watson cited family reasons for the decision to keep the Burger Bus closed in 2027, expressing that he wanted more time with his family and children as they grow up. He said the future of the food truck isn’t known yet, hinting that it could return in 2028.

“Maybe we figure out a way to make it work, and the Burger Bus comes rolling back in 2028. I certainly hope there’s another chapter to this story. But right now, being there for our kids and our family is where we need to be.”

Watson is inviting the community to take part in “one last Burger Bus get-together” in late October. People are encouraged to stop by for free single cheeseburgers and pulled pork sandwiches.
“We just want you to come see us, grab a burger or pulled pork sandwich, say hi, and let us feed you one more time before we park the Burger Bus for a while.”
