MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Family and friends gathered Thursday evening for a vigil honoring Shannon Lewis, a longtime Manhattan barber and business owner who died Oct. 13 at the age of 58.
Lewis was born Sept. 22, 1968, in Junction City and later graduated from Rock Creek High School. He went on to earn his cosmetology certificate from Bellus Academy in Manhattan before opening his own business, Debonaire’s Haircuts.
Lewis operated the business for more than 15 years and earned several honors throughout his career, including the 2026 Longevity in Business Award from Black Entrepreneurs of Flint Hills.
Beyond his work, Lewis was remembered as a father, brother, uncle, friend and mentor. His family said he enjoyed dancing, drawing, creating decorative art and working on building and renovation projects.
