TOPEKA (KSNT) – State troopers report a motorcyclist is seriously injured after a crash in Topeka Wednesday afternoon.
Personnel with the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) said the crash happened just before 1:55 p.m. on Oct. 28 where westbound I-470 meets eastbound I-70. The crash involved only one vehicle: a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600K6 motorcycle.
Troopers said the motorcyclist was traveling west on I-470 and taking a ramp to I-70 eastbound when he lost control. The motorcyclist left the roadway to the left, traveling 400 feet into an embankment before coming to a stop.
KHP staff said the motorcyclist, a 43-year-old man from Mansfield, Texas, had serious injuries. Medical personnel transported him to a Topeka hospital for care. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
