EMPORIA (KSNT) — No. 8 Emporia State football will look to defeat No. 11 Northwest Missouri on Saturday to secure at least a share of the MIAA regular season title.
“I think everybody knows. Have we brought it up? Yes. It’s not something we talk about every day,” Emporia State head coach Garin Higgins said. “What our ultimate goal is, of course, is to win the game on Saturday. But it’s everything that we do each and every day that leads up to that.”
It will be a top 15 battle for the Hornets, against a team they have historically struggled against.
The Hornets head into this matchup 8-0 on the season and will take on a team that has suffered just one loss all season.
ESU’s last win against the Bearcats came in Maryville back in 2023. Last time out, the Hornets lost 58-38 despite their 31-point third-quarter effort.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Maryville.
