MILFORD (KSNT) — For 27 years, Michael Garrett has transformed his Milford yard into a Halloween destination, welcoming families for an evening filled with spooky decorations, animated monsters and plenty of treats.
What started as a small neighborhood tradition has grown into a community attraction, bringing in more than 200 trick-or-treaters each year.
Garrett said he enjoys building many of the decorations himself, adding new features to the display every Halloween. From handmade fencing and graveyard displays to people dressed as Halloween characters, there’s something for visitors of all ages.
One of the attractions even features Dracula handing out candy from a coffin.
“I like building stuff. You know, some of the DIY stuff is pretty cool. I enjoy doing some of it,” Garrett said.
But the tradition holds a deeper meaning for Garrett. Six years ago, he lost his wife, and since then, the Halloween display has been dedicated to her memory.

“I lost my wife six years ago, so ever since then we’ve dedicated it to her,” Garrett said.
Over the years, the display has become more than just a Halloween attraction. Garrett said it’s a way to give back to the community, with some families returning year after year and even bringing their own children.
“For me, it’s all about giving back to my community,” Garrett said.
The Halloween display is free for families to visit. Garrett said he prepares more than 200 bags of candy each year for trick-or-treaters, continuing a tradition that has brought the Milford community together for nearly three decades.
