LAWRENCE (KSNT) – A quick 2-0 start for the Jayhawks.
The Kansas women’s basketball team (2-0) cruised by Drake (1-1) on Friday afternoon, winning 74-49.
It was the ‘Kids Game,’ played in front of a crowd of 4,751 fans, including many local elementary students.
Sophomore star Jaliya Davis notched a game-high of 20 points while coming just one rebound shy of a double-double. S’Mya Nichols also reached double-digit scoring with 10 points.
All 10 Jayhawks who saw the court scored in the win.
“I thought we played well defensively,” Kansas head coach Brandon Schneider said post game. “That’s a hard team to guard. I think they’re probably going to average 80 points in their league, so to hold them to 27 percent shooting and 49 points is something that we should be proud of.”
The Jayhawks are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 10 to host Oral Roberts. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
