LANSING, Kan. — An inmate at the Lansing Correctional Facility died over the weekend, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

58-year-old, Charles Homer Roberson, died Monday at the facility. Roberson was found unresponsive in his cell. Staff and EMS administered life-saving measures but were not able to save him.

No details were released on the events leading up to his death. The cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy, the department said.

When a resident dies in KDOC custody, the agency and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation investigate the death. KDOC said the investigation is ongoing.

Roberson was serving a life sentence for convictions of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, and forgery in Wyandotte County.
