TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka restaurant and brewery is taking a victory lap after some of its beers won big awards at an international event referred to as the “Olympics of Beer.”

The Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant announced on social media Thursday that three of its beers earned awards in the 2024 World Beer Cup. The southeast Topeka restaurant is also giving a shoutout to its Brewmaster John Dean and Head Brewer Alvaro Canizales for making the win possible. The winning beers include the following:

  • Gold – Munich Dunkles (Munich-style dunkel category)
  • Bronze – Bling Tiger Bock (German-style of maibock category)
  • Bronze – Smokey the Beer (Smoke beer category)

This isn’t the first time the Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant has won awards in the World Beer Cup. In 2022, it took home a bronze award for the Blind Tiger Bock, and in 2014, its Munich Dunkles and Maibock beers were awarded gold and silver.

The 2024 World Beer Cup celebrates the art and style of brewing annually with a worldwide competition, according to the World Beer Cup website. Brewers from around the world are invited to put their best foot forward by submitting beers into more than 100 different style categories for the opportunity to take home bronze, silver or gold awards.
