MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The City of Manhattan is releasing a new plan Tuesday showing plans to develop its downtown area moving forward.

The “Beyond Tomorrow Downtown Plan” (BTDP) was announced Tuesday, April 23, showcasing ideas for the development of the Little Apple’s downtown. This plan is a successor to another put forth in 2000, “The Downtown Tomorrow Plan”, according to the City of Manhattan’s website.

City officials envision the BTDP as being the driving force behind fleshing out the downtown area’s historic, cultural and economic values. Ten sub-sections are mapped out in the BTDP and divided between “area of stability/maintenance” and “area of change/improvement” designations.

  • Historic core

  • Manhattan Marketplace

The BTDP will serve as a framework for a roughly 25-year vision of downtown Manhattan’s future. According to the city, the plan is not meant to be rock-solid but instead will help guide where future investment in the area should take place.
