MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Riley County Emergency Management Service (EMS) is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Headquarters in Manhattan later this month.

On April 22, Riley County EMS will celebrate the start of construction of the new 15,000-square-foot location which is expected to take just over a year to build. The facility is expected to be open and operating by mid-summer 2025.

Riley County Commissioners approved a $11.7 million budget with funds from the American Rescue Plan Act for the project.

The location will service Station #1 for Riley County EMS and will include a training and conference room, a full-time staffed ambulance, backup ambulances, an on-duty supervisor and quarters for non-EMS staff.

The groundbreaking will start at 2 p.m. and continue until 2:30 at 2101 Claflin Road.
