TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Supreme Court is seeking public comment on proposed updates to the state’s Child Support guidelines.

The Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee is proposing updates to the new guidelines that took effect on January 1. The new guidelines include revising the equal parenting time formula, renaming it the direct expense formula, and technical updates to provide better clarity.

The Kansas Supreme Court says the guidelines are revised by the Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee to ensure that child support payments in the state remain equitable and provide for the essential needs of children. Once the changes are approved the updated guidelines will go into effect July 1.
