DETROIT (KSNT) – Former KU offensive lineman Dominick Puni will continue his football career in San Francisco.

Puni was selected in the third round, 86th overall, by the San Francisco 49ers. He was the first Jayhawk to be taken off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, and KU’s highest draft pick since 2008.

The Missouri native is the first KU offensive lineman selected since Hakeem Adeniji in 2020, who was taken in the sixth round.

The former Jayhawk heads to the big leagues after finishing out his college career in Lawrence. He played four seasons at Central Missouri before transferring to KU, where he played for two years.

Puni earned All-Big 12 First Team and Second Team All-America honors in 2023. He started in all 22 games played for the Jayhawks and was part of KU’s victory in the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl, marking the program’s first bowl win since 2008.
