SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man was arrested following a crash involving a train and a pickup truck.

It happened shortly after midnight Thursday near Kansas Highway 140 and Halstead Road, west of Salina.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the area after a train struck an unoccupied 1998 Chevy 1500 pickup truck that had been parked on the tracks.

No one was found nearby. However, about 30 minutes later, a deputy spotted a 25-year-old man walking near K-140 and I-135.

The sheriff’s office says the man was arrested after deputies discovered he was carrying meth and drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Saline County Jail on charges of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no proof of insurance.

The sheriff’s office says he could face additional charges.
