TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Polk-Quincy waterline project will require the closure of part of SE Sixth Avenue until next month.

SE Sixth Avenue will be closed at SE Monroe Street starting on Monday, April 22. The closure is expected to last until May 22, according to an announcement from the City of Topeka Public Works Division. Traffic will be allowed to continue through the intersection southbound.

A detour will be provided for eastbound SW Sixth Avenue. From Southwest Topeka Boulevard turn south onto SW 10th Avenue then turn east onto SE Madison Street then north on SE Madison Street back onto SE Sixth Avenue, according to the announcement.

For westbound traffic the detour will start at Southeast Madison Street. From SE Madison Street turn north onto Southeast Fourth Street then west on SE Topeka Boulevard then south back onto SE Sixth Avenue, according to the announcement.
