TOPEKA (KSNT) — A local fire department is updating the public on grass fires west of Topeka.

The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) posted on social media that grass fires west of Topeka are creating smoke that is spreading across the city, but there is no danger to the public. TFD is working closely with partners across the county monitoring the multiple fires.

If you are sensitive to smoke, TFD suggests staying indoors and keeping windows and doors closed.

According to airnow.gov, the air quality in Topeka is moderate.
