Proposed Senate additions to President Donald Trump’s mega tax and spending bill would claw back all funding for electric vehicles and force the U.S. Postal Service to dismantle and sell any current EV vehicle and charging infrastructure, reported The Washington Post.
Congress in 2023 gave the Postal Service $3 billion as part of a $430 billion climate bill to buy EVs and charging infrastructure — including $1.2 billion for electric vehicles.
The Postal Service bought 28,000 vehicles in 2024, 22,000 of them gas powered, and had plans to acquire over 66,000 electric vehicles by 2028.
