Dems’ Failure to Stop Rescissions May Boomerang

Failure to protect former President Joe Biden’s free foreign aid spigot amid the Trump administration’s revival of the decades-dormant rescissions procedure could backfire on both Democrats and Republicans.

Democrats have remained in lockstep in voting to obstruct President Donald Trump’s agenda this term to date and most of the first one, but their filibuster effort fell short on the $9 billion rescissions package that cut the waste, fraud, and abuse of $1.1 billion for public broadcasting and $7.9 billion in foreign aid.

For one, Democrats have shown their base their lack of power against constitutional precedent and congressional procedure; two, Republicans might be drawing the boomerang effort once Democrats win back a unified government by controlling White House and the majorities in the House and Senate.
