NYPD Readies for Action at Columbia Amid Protest Uncertainty

The NYPD has assembled officers in preparation to disperse anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University, although the institution has not yet requested police intervention, as per sources, the N.Y. Post reported.

Defying the 2 p.m. Monday deadline to vacate a tent camp on the campus, many students and faculty members have chosen to remain, engaging in marches, songs, chants, and drumming activities, prolonging the standoff.

According to police sources, patrol officers have been readied on Randall’s Island, located just a short distance from Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus. However, the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group is not currently involved in this mobilization effort.
